Swinton Flat Green Bowls

Once the Short Mat season comes to an end, A lot of players will embark on Bowling outside, Either as Flat Green or Crown Green bowlers.

In Swinton, we have a very successful flat Green Bowling Club, who compete in various leagues.

Hovingham LEAGUE

Comprises Teams based in Ryedale North Yorkshire.

Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from May to August.  In addition to the league games, clubs also compete in a Knock-out Cup competition, called the Waltham Cup.

Currently there are 10 teams from 9 clubs – Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, Sessay, Settrington, Stillington, Swinton, Thirsk (2 Teams), & Welham.

Each Team comprises of 3 Rinks with four players using 2 Bowls and playing 21 ends

Ryedale Veterans League

This is a flat green triples bowls league based mainly in the District of Ryedale in North Yorkshire.

League games are played on Wednesday afternoons from May to August  and all teams are invited to play for the Sundella and Ossie Ashcroft Cups as well as competing in the league competitions.

Teams consist of four open triples playing 18 endsrs of any age, gender or ability.

Batagas Ryedale Triples Bowls League

League games are played on Monday and Friday evenings from May to August  and all teams also compete for the Fred Husband Knock Out Cup.

Wecurrently have 11 member clubs, all of whom welcome new members or any age, gender or ability.

Each team shall consist of twelve players, i.e. four rinks of three players. Playing 18 ends
