If you leave Malton on the B1257 Helmsley road, you will soon pass through the villages of Broughton, Swinton and Amotherby. It is the first letters of these three, (and not a well known British motor cycle) that Matt Fenwick used to name the club he formed in March 1986. Matt Sadly Passed away in 2019.

From its inception in 1986, The BSA Centre in Swinton hosted our Club League Games and social sessions, and also both North Yorkshire County Championships and Club open Competitions.

Individual accolades go to Matt & Freda Fenwick who played regularly for the County team in the mid 90’s whilst the late Richard Lund enjoyed a particularly good season in 2004/05 reaching the Semi Finals of the County Singles and Quarter Finals of the County Triples with club colleagues Sue Watson and John Coffey. With Sue he was also runner up in the annual Kirbymisperton Pairs.

Since 1998, the Club has held its own open Triples competition, which was renamed The Richard Lund Memorial Triples. In 2008 we took on the job of organising the High Fives from the St. Cuthberts club.

The funds raised from the competitions helped us build up a stock of 11 mats.

In 2018 after much discussion, we decided to move our home Dales League Matches to Ryedale indoor Bowls Club based in Norton.

Ryedale Community & Leisure Centre, Scarborough Rd, Malton YO17 8EG

After our move to Ryedale Indoor Bowls Centre, we downsized to 6 mats. The 6 mats allows us to continue running our High Fives and Richard Lund Triples Competitions.

Our Club currently  has 2 teams in the same division in the New Dales league, So we can expect some friendly rivalry between members when they play each other.
