BSA High Fives Competition 2016

P1050878

(23/1/16) 16 teams of 5 entered (each team = 1 Triple + 1 Pair). 8 mats were used so all contestants had 4 games of 45 minutes. The Triples and Pairs played in alternate sessions so each team could watch and cheer on their “other half” whilst sitting out. Teams winning all 8 games could gain 16 points but just as in the previous 4 years, no team actually achieved this. However 3 teams managed to tie with 14 points each so the final places were determined by overall shot difference which resulted in the Rose Bowl (and £60) going to James Clark, Jake Potter and the three Newsomes (+72) who just pipped the winners of 2014 and 2015 Janet Clark, Geoff & Ann Whitehead and Roger & Diane Ellis (+70) who were awarded £50. A small award of £30 and £15 went the the 3rd and 4th placed teams.

BSA Richard Lund Triples Competition 2016

P1050911

(13/2/16) This year 22 entrants took part with everyone having 4 games and chasing the 8 points available. At the end of the day only two teams had won all their games and after taking into account their overall shot difference the winners were Joanne Senior and Mick & Anne Ridge from Crossgates with runners up Alan Banthorpe from Hambleton who had teamed up with Gill Fletcher and Harry Welch from St. Cuthberts. The organiser were also very pleased to see a team of junior bowlers from North Duffield taking part – Daniel Agar (12), Ben Finch (15) and Lauren Finch (16) and at the end of the day showed their appreciation by refunding them their entry fees

Little Cup

P1050943(Saturday March 19th at Swinton) – This year the BSA club agreed to organise and host this competition on behalf of the NYSMBA (due to a continued lack of organisational resources because of the absence of any elected NYSMBA Competition Secretary), The format remained the same and with 20 entries (teams of 4) the competition took part on 10 mats with each team playing in alternate sessions. All participants had 4 games of 45 minutes – two played as 2 x Pairs and two played as 1 x Single and 1 x Triple. At the end of the day 4 teams remained undefeated with 16 points so the placings were determined on total shots. The runners up (£50) were Ben Render, Jane Rudd, Joanne Senior and Joyce Perry whilst the Cup and £100 went to Geoff & Anne Whitehead, Geoff Dye and Jill Newsome.
